Mortgage Life Insurance

There are all kinds of life insurance policies available, including mortgage life insurance. Also known as mortgage protection life insurance, this type of coverage is specifically related to the repayment of home mortgage upon the death of the policy owner. Most people who do choose this type of policy get one that is equal in value to the original amount of the mortgage. Rather than having your insurance coverage decrease as the mortgage amount goes down, you can get an inexpensive term life insurance at a level rate.

In recent years the trend for policy seekers has been to purchase ROP or return of premium policies to serve as mortgage term insurance. There is a logical reason behind this decision, as traditional mortgage related policies are not as attractive as term life policies. Term life policies are more competitive and when you choose a return of premium policy you get all your money back at the end of the term. If you are still living, the funds can be used any way you choose including to pay your mortgage. If you die before the term is up, your beneficiary will get the funds or your executor will use them to pay your mortgage, it all depends on what you have specified in your policy and will.

If you're looking for value, ask your insurance agent about a level term life policy. These policies come in terms like 10 years, 20 years, 25 years and 30 years. During the term the coverage and the premium will stay the same. That means your coverage will never decrease and your payments will never increase. While insurance coverage for mortgage protection is still offered by some companies you may decide it is a better choice to go for something like the return of premium or level term life policy. You should definitely shop around to see who offers the best coverage for the best price.

To get quotes for mortgage life insurance, try searching online for free life insurance quotes. There are a large number of websites offering free quotes for potential customers. While these free quotes are only basic estimates, they can help you figure out which company you want to go with. Once you've obtained your quote or quotes and applied for coverage, you will be informed of the actual premium price and your coverage will begin on the date specified by your insurance company.
